Welcome to the Gender Mainstreaming in Large Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) Course!

Gender mainstreaming in the Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) supply chain has the potential to increase the effectiveness of addressing micronutrient deficiencies and improving health outcomes, as gender relations at all levels (households, communities, and the broader food supply chain) are important drivers of nutrition outcomes.

Applying a gender and social inclusion lens in a programmatic cycle of the LSFF supply chain (planning, production, promotion, supply, distribution, uptake, monitoring, and reporting) is important to achieve gender equity and inclusion and ultimately increase the food system’s ability to deliver nutritious food to the most vulnerable groups.

This course is a practical guide for LSFF actors who are seeking to embed gender responsive commitments and practices in the LSFF program supply-side inputs and interventions. The toolkit will help build greater understanding and interest on gender and intersectionality as well as the role of gender in nutrition. In addition, the simple steps and checklists provided in the toolkit will assist in operationalizing gender mainstreaming into the existing LSFF systems and processes.
